Gio Tan: President and Founder

Gio has practiced corporate interior design in Canada since 1969.

After studying interior design at the Institut Teknologi Bandung in Indonesia, Gio went on to Belgium's National Higher Institute for Architecture and Urban Development. In 1969, Gio immigrated to Canada and worked at several interior design firms before forming Gio Tan Design Associates Inc. in 1978.

Gio loves the fact that he's able to pass his knowledge and wisdom on to his sons and staff. He also enjoys spending time at the cottage, meeting up with old friends, playing golf and being able to beat kids a third his age on the badminton and squash courts. ("That includes Sid," he quips.)

His work philosophy is simple. "Space planning and interior design is a service business. It's a personalized consultation process dedicated to fulfilling clients' expectations -- we make sure we do so on every project we undertake."
